The pain relieving specialist gives a hint:
A short break in the use of cosmetics causes a significant decrease in hormone-disrupting chemicals.
Very interesting. A new study on this.
Researchers at “UC Berkeley” and the “Clinica de Salud del Valle Salinas” have shown that even a short break from various cosmetics, shampoos and other body care products can lead to a significant decrease in the amount of hormone-disrupting chemicals in the body.
In this study (published in the journal “Environmental Health Perspectives”), 100 Latina teenagers were given different body care products. All of these products are labelled as free of common chemicals. (Phthalates, parabens, triclosan and oxybenzone). Studies have shown that these common chemicals directly interfere with the body’s endocrine system.
“Since women are the primary consumers of many personal care products, they may be disproportionately exposed to these chemicals,” said the study’s lead author, Kim Harley, associate director of the UC Berkeley Center for Environmental Research and Children’s Health.
Results: After just 3 days, using the products, urine samples showed a significant decrease in chemicals in the body. Methyl and propyl parabens by 44%. Metabolites of diethyl phthalate (commonly used in perfume) decreased by 27%. Triclosan and benzophenone-3 dropped by 36%.
The researchers said there is growing evidence linking endocrine disrupting chemicals to neurobehavioural problems, obesity and cancer cell growth.
Possible solutions: Trust is good, control is better, they say. What could be easier than turning over the packaging of cosmetics and reading what’s inside?
One objection might be: “I can’t do anything with all those terms written on the back. “
-I see.-That makes total sense then, to put something you can’t comprehend in and on your body for years, doesn’t it?
“I don’t understand what it means.” Well this is where your own commitment is needed then.
Everyone has a mobile phone with them. Type it in and let it search. That would be a first step, wouldn’t it?
It damages my body in the long run, it makes the body sick – but it smells so great. That’s why I buy it, again and again. Make that sense?? But I don’t have to explain that to you, do I?
You all know that yourselves. I wish you much success on your journey.
Stay strong.
See you next time.
