The pain relieving specialist explains: Pain and the support provided by insoles, bite splints (for grinding teeth), back straps and orthosiss/bandages. Goal-oriented or counterproductive?
The sense of supporters is meaningful and comprehensible at first glance. Protection of the feet – through insoles. Protection of the teeth from gnashing via night guard. Improvement of posture and protection of the back – with a back belt. Stabilisation and support of joints – through orthoses and bandages. At second glance, however, it no longer makes sense. Why?
The human body can live 80 or 90 years in these days. Why should individual parts of the body no longer function 100% after half of that time, sometimes even earlier?
The human body is not built like a car. Brake broken, brake is replaced. Tyres broken, tyres are changed. If parts of the body are no longer “full used”, this is noticed and the energy supply is reduced or stopped. The body is very lazy. Or in other words, very, very energy-efficient. “Use-it- or -lose-it.”
Everyone has heard this before. The body’s ability to regenerate decreases with age. In my opinion, the mentioned “supporters” train the body incorrectly. Something no longer works as usual and I teach the body to use even less energy in the future to stabilise this situation. In the beginning the supporter may work, because certain movements are prevented. And less power has to be used.
Another example: A broken arm. The arm will placed in a plaster cast. What does the arm look like when it comes out of the cast. Thicker than the other arm? No, considerably thinner. Why? Because the movement has been completely neutralised.
Does an eye ever return to its original eye sight, after you have started wearing glasses? Uh, no. Why? Why should there be an improvement, when the initial power is getting lower and lower? Instead, the strength of the glasses must be adjusted regularly. Is it understandable what I am getting at? The difference between whether a person is just suppressing the symptoms or treating the cause, has to do with the fact, that the reason is often not known. And it could be tough and much more complicated to treat the exact reason.
And you already have enough other stress. Do you? When was the last time you were 100% pain-free – can you remember that? You were free. Pain-free. What if you can proclaim the control of everything by yourself?
If you didn’t have to see a therapist any more? What would that be like? You know how to contact me, right?
New appointments are possible again. Many success on your way.
